HEALTH CENTER FOR ELDERLY

 Architect: Kyrylo Tarasyuk
Collage: Iryna Helka
Project Year: 2019
Location: Grad Goricko, Slovenia
The project was based on the building of an old tavern and near by agricultural fields.
The idea behind the design was primarily tolerance for reliefs and the environment. Two additional buildings are making the area at the intersection of the streets attractive and open, as well as the coziness and semi-privacy in the square between the houses.

Here, the residents of the social health center can spend time near a small garden with fruit trees, which, together with the relief, gradually turns into agricultural fields in which the residents can cultivate the land together.
The existing building has remained within its boundaries and has been preserved with minor changes in planning for the elderly. There are spaces for activities that are directly connected to the inner semi-private terrace, where the summer terrace is set up in the warm season. By changing the existing gallery, all rooms were brought together and good light was provided for the dark and narrow rooms in the past.

Despite the traditional wooden architecture in Slovenia, most of the buildings in Goricko had massive structures and various plaster facades. In this project, the facade consists of rough plaster combined with delicate stripes around the windows and wooden frames.
